The tragedy occurred “around 5 a.m. The secondary road, connecting the communes of Verrettes and Désarmes with that of Saint-Marc, is regularly used, since National Route 1 is abandoned to armed gangs. At dawn, motorcyclists were targeted and riddled with bullets by six men who came from Liancourt,” explained the president of the local communal section board (CASEC), Wilbert Michel, to Le Nouvelliste.11 people were hit by projectiles. Three have survived so far, including one woman, according to Mr. Michel, who emphasizes that “the victims are mostly from Verrettes.” Sources report that the victims were questioned and accused of fighting the criminals.
