The Iranian Revolutionary Guards denied on Monday that merchant ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to what the US command for the region (Centcom) had stated earlier.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards denied on Monday that any merchant ships had passed through the Strait of Hormuz, contrary to what the U.S. command for the region (Centcom) had claimed earlier.

“No commercial or oil ship has crossed the Strait of Hormuz in the past few hours, and the allegations (…) by U.S. officials are unfounded and completely false,” the Guards said in a statement on their Telegram account.

Two merchant ships flying the American flag were able to pass through this strategic passage “successfully,” Centcom had announced earlier.
