Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, during an interview with the newspaper Le Nouvelliste and Magik9 radio during his recent visit to Rome, confirmed the publication of a decree governing mining activities in Haiti. The document, adopted in the Council of Ministers, was published in the official journal Le Moniteur in the Monday, March 30, 2026 edition. Asked about this, the head of government stated that the country needed to be provided with appropriate regulations before considering any investment in this sector.“The most important thing is to establish the legal framework. This, before deciding whether or not to grant mining benefits. The legal framework needs to be modernized. The last law dates back to the 1970s (Ed. note: decree of March 8, 1976). In 2026, we are in another world,” noted Fils-Aimé.According to the head of government, the publication of the decree will facilitate investments in this sector. “By publishing this text, we have established the legal framework. From now on, if a company is interested in coming to Haiti, we have an appropriate law that will allow it to invest. This instrument also enables companies to know what benefits to offer the country and what they can gain in return,” states the prime minister.
