The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) launched a vaccination campaign against diphtheria this Monday in schools and health centers across the country’s ten departments. According to the West’s health director, Dr. Philippe Noel, this campaign, scheduled from May 25 to 29, targets children aged 6 to 15 in order to strengthen their immunity. To date, 1,398 cases have been recorded, of which 129 are confirmed. The West department alone accounts for 45 confirmed cases and 2 deaths related to the disease.
