The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC) says it is closely monitoring the situation of several Haitian nationals, including Slanda François, who have been held in an administrative detention center in Russia since October 2025. As early as December 2025, diplomatic steps were taken with Russian authorities to secure their release, according to a note from the MAEC. The Haitian government has offered to cover the repatriation costs, suggested different travel routes, and requested the necessary transit visas, the ministry says, while affirming that it remains fully committed until the process is completed.
