Ms. Juma was received in an audience by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé this Thursday, July 16, 2026, the Prime Minister’s office reported in a statement.
“The discussions, marked by cordiality, mutual respect, and a spirit of partnership, focused on UNODC’s strategic priorities worldwide and in Haiti, the Organization’s regional approach to transnational challenges, as well as the upcoming UNODC report to the United Nations Security Council. Both parties also looked at ways to strengthen their cooperation, particularly in areas like fighting corruption, developing judicial hubs, border security, and exploring new avenues of collaboration,” the Prime Minister’s office said in the statement.According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the head of government took advantage of this meeting to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to the rule of law and the fight against corruption. “Alix Didier Fils-Aimé specifically highlighted the measures taken by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security to transfer to the judges of the judicial divisions all the serious corruption cases currently pending in court, about forty cases involving mass crimes and major corruption offenses. The Prime Minister also reminded that the judicial divisions, officially launched on May 18, 2026, will start functioning on August 17,” the government statement noted.”This meeting reflects the shared commitment of the Haitian government and UNODC to strengthen a strategic partnership in support of building up institutions, justice, good governance, and security, while respecting Haiti’s national priorities and international commitments,” the statement concludes.
