On the occasion of the feast day of Our Lady of the Assumption, the North-East Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCINE) brought together, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, several representatives from the business sector and social life actors around a buffet organized at a hotel in Ouanaminthe. Named ‘Entrepreneurial Connection,’ this initiative provided a space for meetings, exchanges, and networking between entrepreneurs and representatives of professional organizations from the greater North.
The gathering notably brought together representatives from the Chambers of Commerce of the North and North-West, entrepreneurs, and other actors involved in regional economic development. Beyond its friendly nature, the event allowed participants to discuss the challenges facing the private sector, share their experiences, and explore ways to strengthen collaboration among the different economic players.A Chamber Serving the Regional Private Sector
For the president of the CCINE, Diony Pierre, the Chamber of Commerce should be a real tool for representing and defending the interests of the private sector in the far North. According to him, the institution is also meant to fully play its role as a bridge between businesses, public authorities, and the various players involved in the region’s economic development.
“The Chamber of Commerce should be a real gathering space for the business sector. It should allow entrepreneurs to meet, think together, and carry out initiatives that can contribute to the development of the far North,” emphasized Diony Pierre. From this perspective, the “Entrepreneurial Connection” aims to strengthen the relationships between entrepreneurs and organizations representing the private sector. For the president of CCINE, reinforcing these ties seems all the more necessary as businesses operate in an environment full of challenges. He believes that dialogue can help generate collective solutions and pave the way for new partnerships.
The initiative also seeks to encourage networking, sharing experiences, and greater collaboration among economic players in the North, North-East, and North-West.Toward Increased Business Participation
Present at the event, the departmental director of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Julcin Pierre, also talked about the institution’s outlook following discussions with the leaders of CCINE. He particularly emphasized the need to provide the Chamber with sufficient resources to boost its presence within communities and better support economic players.
In this context, he mentioned considering a mechanism that would allow businesses to allocate a portion of their profits to the Chamber’s operations and initiatives. According to him, this approach could be incorporated into companies’ accounting practices to encourage more structured and sustainable private sector participation in funding the institution.”The idea is to work with companies so that a portion of their profits can contribute to the Chamber’s activities. This will allow us to be more present in communities, better support entrepreneurs, and strengthen our ability to launch projects for the benefit of the sector,” explained Julcin Pierre.
He hopes that this approach can gradually be integrated into companies’ accounting practices and become a sustainable mechanism to support CCINE’s activities.Strengthening Economic Collaboration in the Far North
Through this “Entrepreneurial Connection,” the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Northeast aims to continue its efforts to bring together players from the private sector. The meeting on August 15 is part of an initiative to strengthen the business community’s cohesion, encourage networking among entrepreneurs, and create new opportunities for collaboration.
In a region where businesses face challenges such as financing, infrastructure, the business environment, and market access, better coordination between employer organizations and economic players could help push common demands and bring forward impactful initiatives. For CCINE, the “Entrepreneurial Connection” is meant to be more than just a casual meet-up held on the sidelines of the business festival. It aims to lay the groundwork for more regular dialogue between entrepreneurs and private sector organizations, with the goal of making networking and consultation key tools for economic development in the greater North.
