After more than a month of waiting, the Haitian Football Federation has finally revealed the name of Haiti’s new national team coach. It’s the Spaniard David Badia Cequier, 51 years old, holder of a UEFA Pro license.
The former Spanish defensive midfielder, born in Gavà on September 4, 1974, started his career as a manager for Barcelona Youth (2012-2016). He was in Turkey as an assistant coach for Antalyaspor (2017-2018) and Fenerbahçe (2018-2019) before returning home to assist the coach of Almeria (2019-2021).
Before taking the reins of the Haitian national football team, he was in Cyprus managing the Etnikos Achna teams on two occasions (2021-2022 and 2024-2025), not to mention that he also handled the teams of AEK Larnaca, Akritas Chlorakas, and Lechia Gdansk.David Badia Cequier is a fan of the flat 3-4-3 system, while the national team, under the leadership of Sébastien Migné, always played in a 4-2-3-1.
While we have to wait for the FHF to find out what mission has been given to David Badia Cequier, he will have to play two official Nations League matches in September, on the 24th and 28th, against Trinidad and Tobago as well as Costa Rica for his debut in charge of the Grenadiers.
