“The most glaring problem we had with him (the CPT) was the deep criminal corruption. A second problem was his predatory political nature: the inability to govern, feeding chaos,” said Wooster, recently appointed U.S. ambassador to Kenya by the Trump administration, in an exclusive interview with Le Nouvelliste.

“I could go on and on. Maybe the best question would have been: what problem didn’t we have with the CPT?” added the American diplomat, whose government had sanctioned certain members of the CPT and canceled their visas. The Trump administration had sent warships to the Port-au-Prince bay ahead of February 7, 2026, to deter any attempt to thwart the takeover by Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, now all-powerful Prime Minister, without a counterbalance.
