The Ministry of the Environment (MdE) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), with support from UNEP and FAO, launched the project “Strengthening Resilience to Climate Disasters in Southern Haiti” on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Funded with $4.3 million from the GEF‑7/GEF, this four-year program will directly benefit nearly 116,000 people in six municipalities in Grand’Anse and Nippes, according to an MdE statement. The planned actions focus on ecosystem restoration, sustainable natural resource management, disaster risk reduction, and promoting a green economy, the statement said.
