Founded by Woodnaëlle Anne Delice and Germanie Fieffé, Déclic Littéraire aims to make reading a fun experience for kids and young people in Haiti.
A new cultural mediation initiative is emerging in Haiti. Called Déclic Littéraire, it was founded by Woodnaëlle Anne Delice and Germanie Fieffé with the goal of promoting reading among children and young people. The organization aims to offer literary experiences that are accessible, interactive, and rooted in Haitian reality.
The founders’ initial observation is simple: reading is too often seen by young people as a school obligation rather than as a source of pleasure and discovery. To change this perception, Déclic Littéraire develops activities that allow participants to experience books in a different way, in spaces for sharing, creativity, and exchange.Through its initiatives, the organization wants to help sustainably grow the Haitian readership, highlight the richness of national literature, and create a new connection between young people and books.A literary picnic launch
Déclic Littéraire was officially launched on July 25, 2026, with a Literary Picnic. The event brought together about twenty children for various activities: reading, writing, drawing, painting, educational games, and relaxation time.
This first activity marked the starting point of an initiative aimed at making reading a lively, fun, and accessible experience for young participants.LIR’O GAMES, next stop in August
Continuing this vision, Déclic Littéraire is preparing a new event called LIR’O GAMES, scheduled for the end of August 2026. This activity will be aimed at children aged 6 to 17.
The program will feature games, reading challenges, and interactive activities. The main goal is to encourage the joy of reading while allowing children to develop their imagination and creativity outside of the usual school settings.Long-term ambitions
Beyond these first two activities, Déclic Littéraire has long-term ambitions. The organization plans to set up literacy workshops as well as reading support programs, along with other cultural initiatives.
These future initiatives aim to encourage the development of a community of readers and creators in Haiti, in a context where access to books and reading remains a challenge for many young people across the country.
