The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC), Raina Forbin, brought together the leaders of the National Identification Office (ONI), the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI), as well as several heads of diplomatic missions, to discuss setting up a secure digital platform for managing consular services. This project aims especially to make it easier for Haitian citizens to access the National Identification Card (CIN), the Unique National Identification Number (NINU), and the police certificate. According to the MAEC, a production and distribution center for National Identification Cards is expected to be launched in the United States as early as September 2026 to reduce the time it takes to issue documents and improve services offered to the diaspora.
